Jean-Michel Costes
Sociologist, demographer and epidemiologist, he comes from research direction of Ministry of Health. He was Director of the French monitoring centre on drugs and drug addictions (OFDT) from 1995 to 2011 and Secretary-General of the French monitoring centre on gambling from 2011 to 2020.
Since 2021, he has been associated researcher at research chair on gambling and gaming, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada
He has carried out many quantitative and qualitative surveys on the social and addictive dimensions of legal and illegal drug use and gambling or gaming practices, and has been involved in the evaluation of public policies in this field.
He was appointed in June 2020 as member of the college of the French National Gambling Authority, an independent administrative authority which regulates all gambling activities.
